Ganesh Chaturthi Celebration

Ganesh Chaturthi celebrates the birth of Lord Ganesha, the God of wisdom. It starts on the fourth day of the waxing moon in the Hindu month of Bhadrapada. Mythologically it is believed that he is the younger son of Lord Shiva and Devi Parvati. Lord Ganesha is widely worshipped in India for wisdom and prosperity. In the state of Maharashtra it is celebrated with most enthusiasm.
